1. LK 16:13
   
   "No man can serve two masters, for either he will hate one and love the other; or else, he will support one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."
   
   
2. LK 10:38.42
   
   As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a village where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home. Her sister Mary sat on the floor, listening to Jesus as he talked. But Martha was so busy with the big dinner that she was preparing; and surveying all the work that still had to be done, she approached Jesus and said, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work by myself? Tell her to come and help me!"
   
   The Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha! You are anxious and upset over so many things. There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary realizes this; and I won’t deny it to her."
   
   
3. MT 6:33
   
   "But first, seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall simply be added to you."
   
   
4. MT 10:29.31
   
   "For only a penny, you can buy two sparrows; yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father knowing it. And even the hair on your head are all numbered. So don’t worry. You are far more valuable to Him than many sparrows."
   
   
5. MT 6:25.32
   
   "Don’t be anxious about life. Don’t worry about food, drink, or clothes. After all, isn’t life worth more than mere food? And isn’t the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds! They don’t plant seeds; neither do they reap nor store up grain. And yet, your Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they are? Furthermore, will all your worries add a single moment to your life? And why worry about clothes? Observe how the lilies of the field grow and thrive without having to work at all. And yet, I tell you that even Solomon, in all his glory, was never arrayed as magnificently as one of these. And if God so adorns the grass in the field that lives only for a day and is quickly gone tomorrow, will he not more surely clothe you? How little is your faith! Therefore, don’t worry about what you will eat or drink, or even what you will wear because your Father in heaven already knows all that you need."

8. MT 24:04.13
   
   "Be careful and don’t let anyone fool you. For many will come claiming to be the Christ and will lead many astray. When you hear of wars beginning, don’t be so disturbed because they must come; but the end is not yet. The nations and kingdoms of the earth will rise against each other and there will be famines and earthquakes in many places. But all these will be only the beginning of the horrors to come. Then you will be persecuted and killed and hated by all the world because you are mine, and many of you will fall back into sin and betray and hate each other. Many false prophets will appear and lead many astray. Sin will be rampant everywhere and will cool the love of many. But those who endure to the end shall be saved."

   "Give to all who ask; and when things are taken away from you, don’t even try to get them back."
   
   
10. MK 14:34.36
    
    "The sorrow in my heart is so great that it is almost unbearable; stay here and keep watch." He went a little farther on, fell to the ground and prayed that, if possible, he might not have to go through that time of suffering. "Father," he prayed, "my Father! All things are possible to You. Take this cup of suffering away from me. Even so, not what I want but what You want."

    "Put away your sword. Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?"
    
    
12. MT 7:07.11
    
    "Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Anyone who seeks, finds. And if you will only knock, the door will open. Would any of you who are fathers give your son a stone when he asks for bread? Or would you give him a poisonous snake if he should ask for fish? Of course, not! As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"
    
    
13. MK 10:17.25
    
    Once, a man came running to Jesus and asked him, "Good Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
    
    And Jesus said, "Why do you call me good? There is only One Who is really good — and that is God. You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery; do not kill; do not steal; don’t lie; don’t cheat; honor your father and mother."
    
    "Teacher," the man said, "ever since I was young, I have obeyed all these commandments."
    
    Jesus felt genuine love for this man as he looked at him. "You lack one thing," he told him. "Go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor and you shall have treasure in heaven; then come and follow me." When the man heard this, he went away sad because he was very rich.
    
    Jesus watched him go, then turned around and said to his disciples, "It is extremely hard for the rich to get into the Kingdom of God." This amazed them. So Jesus said it again: "How hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the Kingdom. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God."
    
    
14. LK 20:21.25
    
    The spies sent to entrap Jesus asked him, "Sir, we know what an honest Teacher you are. You favor no one but teach plainly the ways of God. Now tell us — is it right to pay taxes to the Romans or not?"
    
    Perceiving their craftiness, he said to them, "Show me a coin. Whose name and image are on it?"
    
    They replied, "Caesar’s."
    
    And he said to them, "Well then, give to Caesar the things that belong to Caesar and give to God what belongs to God."
    
    
15. MT 26:41
    
    "Be vigilant and pray that you do not succumb to temptation. The spirit may indeed be willing, but the flesh is weak."
    
    
16. MT 26:31.35
    
    "Tonight, you will all desert me. For it is written in the Scriptures that God will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered. After I have risen back to life, I will go to Galilee and meet you there."
    
    Peter declared, "Even if everyone else deserts you, I won’t."
    
    Jesus told him, "The truth is that this very night, before the cock crows at dawn, you will have denied me three times!"
    
    Peter answered, "I will never deny you even if I have to die with you." And all the other disciples vowed to do the same.
    
    
17. MT 26:69.75
    
    Meanwhile, as Peter was sitting in the courtyard, one of the servant girls came to him and said, "You, too, were with Jesus of Galilee."
    
    But Peter denied it loudly. "I don’t know what you are talking about," he declared angrily.
    
    Later, out by the gate, another girl noticed him and said to the men there, "He was with Jesus of Nazareth."
    
    Again Peter denied it, this time, with an oath. "I don’t even know the man," he said.
    
    But after a while, the men who had been standing there came over to him and said, "Surely, you are one of them, for you speak with the same Galilean accent."
    
    Peter began to curse and swear. "I don’t know the man," he said. And immediately, the cock crowed. Then, Peter remembered what Jesus had said, "Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly.
    
    
18. MT 6:34
    
    "So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow’s needs shall be met even as tomorrow comes. Life is difficult enough as it is without our having to complicate it further. Therefore, it is sufficient that we resolve our problems as they arise and live one day at a time."
